A History of the Sky project was started by Murphlab. It’s subtitled “A dynamic time-lapse visualization of the sky for an entire year”. The daily time lapse movies are taken in San Francisco Bay, and is added to a collective montage which helps you visualize how the sky at day and night are constantly changing throughout the year. It’s pretty stunning! Definitely take a look at it in full screen in 1080p to see all the little details!
A History of the Sky enables the viewer to appreciate the rhythms of weather, the lengthening and shortening of days, and other atmospheric events on an immediate aesthetic level: the clouds, fog, wind, and rain form a rich visual texture, and sunrises and sunsets cascade across the screen.
