Registering & Signing In Account Information Buying or Renting from Tenlegs Profiles & People Uploading & My Store Selling & Getting Paid Create & Start Projects on Tenlegs Site Abuse

Registering & Signing In
How do I get started on Tenlegs?

If you've made it this far, you pretty much have the hang of it. Click around and check out all the things you can do on Tenlegs, from seeing and buying work from artists to creating and selling your own. When you're ready to do more than just look, create an account and you can buy work from other members, set up your own store to sell your work, and soon, you will even be able to start or join a project with others.

How do I register on Tenlegs?

That's an easy one. Just click here and follow the instructions!

Why should I register?

  • To take advantage of everything Tenlegs has to offer, of course.
  • If you're a buyer, you can keep track of your favorite artists, review your purchase history and simplify the checkout process.
  • If you're a seller, you can store and sell your work, create a custom storefront and keep track of sales – all in one convenient place.
  • If you're a project creator or want to collaborate on a creative project, soon, you will be able to team up with other members on projects and connect with other artists from all over the world.

What is my display name? Can I change it?

Your display name is the name you're known by on the site and it is your Store's URL (if you sell). It can be your real name, a pet's name, an alias - whatever floats your boat. You can change it whenever you want to whatever you want (within reason, of course). Just go to your account settings page or your profile and change it there. But keep in mind that your display name is how people find you and your work on the site. So don't change it too often or your "following" may not know where you are.

I registered, but can't sign in!

Great. No, really. After you register, we'll send a confirmation email to the address you provided when you signed up. You need to click the link in the confirmation email to activate your account. Until then, there's no signing in – no matter how hard you try. We do this to protect you and make sure all our members are tied to real email accounts.

I didn't get a confirmation email

Give it time and make sure you check your spam folder, just in case. If you still don't receive an email after a couple of hours, contact us and we'll get things straightened out.

If I forgot my email and/or password, what can I do?

If you forget your password, don't sweat it. Just click here and we'll reset it for you. If you forgot the email you signed up with or no longer have access to it, you'll need to create a new account.

What is following?

In the real world, we tend to follow something we like, right? The same is true on Tenlegs. You can follow an artist, a store or a project that interests you. That way, you can receive updates in your feed whenever something noteworthy happens: like when an artist adds a new item to his/her store or a project is completed.

What are tags? How are they useful?

Tags are extra bits of information you can use to describe you and your work. That way, others have more ways to find you than just searching by name. Tag yourself, your work and your projects with anything from colors and names of objects to the feelings you associate with a specific piece.

Account Information
How do I change my email address or password?

It's easy to update your password. Just go to account settings and follow the instructions. In our beta site, you won't be able to change the email address you registered with us. However, we continue to build new features and enhance the site daily, so please check back, as this feature is on it's way.

How do I cancel my account or close my store?

First off, let's not do anything rash. Give it some serious thought before you pull the trigger. You can contact us and we'll try to talk through any issues you may be having with the site, etc. Who knows, maybe we can work things out?

You can also choose to simply remove any items you have for sale, but retain your registered account on Tenlegs, which will allow you to sell in the future and buy great work from other members.

Canceling your account will remove your profile, store and all your items and projects from Tenlegs.com. It will also remove your permissions from projects you may have been collaborating on. If you want to re-activate your account later, just visit the site and log in or re-register with your currently registered email address - we will provide reactivation instructions from there.

All that said, if you're determined to say goodbye to Tenlegs, click here and follow the instructions for cancelling your account.

Can I have more than one account and store?

Nope, sorry. Only one account per email address. We believe it makes most sense to have a single destination to buy, sell and create on Tenlegs, so that your followers and admirers can find all of your great work. However, if you choose to set up another store, you would have to register a second email address and create a second profile. If you feel this feature is important for you as a seller, please do let us know by sending a note to feedback@tenlegs.com.

How do I change my email preferences?

You can update email preferences in account settings.

What is the Tenlegs inbox for?

Your Tenlegs inbox lets you exchange private and secure messages with fellow members without having to reveal your personal email address to the world. When someone sends you a message, we'll send a notification to your registered email address to let you know. Unless you don't want that, in which case you can turn off the alert within the email alerts area in account settings.

Can I link my account to Twitter and Facebook?

Very soon! Linking your account to Twitter and Facebook is simple and quick, not to mention a good way to promote your work to the outside world. You'll be able to just go to your account settings and set it up with a simple click. Then you can post to your social networks from your profile, your store, or your projects. So, please check back soon! This feature is on it's way...

Buying or Renting from Tenlegs
Do I need to register to buy or rent something?

Yes. This is important for a couple of reasons. First, for your convenience, we will store the items you've paid for in the purchases section of your account. This way, you can come back later and download or view the item(s) you've bought (as long as the original seller keeps his/her item on Tenlegs). Second, we recommend it not only to keep track of your purchases, but also to rate items you've bought and follow your favorite artists.

What can I do with the stuff I buy or rent?

When you buy, you can watch it, listen to it, read it, share it, print it, download it. Pretty much the same things you can do with the other digital art or media you buy. It's up to you. When you rent a video, you will only be able to view it on Tenlegs. Check our Member Agreement for more information.

Where do I find the stuff I recently bought or rented?

There's a record of every purchase you make - just click My Purchases when you're logged in to your account. You also get an email receipt for each purchase that you can keep for your records.

Is my credit card information secure?

All transactions are processed through PayPal, whether you pay via your PayPal account or use a credit card. So yeah, it's secure.

Something I bought or rented didn't work.

If the problem is with the file, contact the seller first. If their response is not satisfactory, contact us at complaints@tenlegs.com. We will look into the issue and do our best to resolve or provide a refund, as appropriate.

How long do I have to view or download after I buy an item?

As long as the seller keeps the item up for sale, you will have that item in your purchases area for download (up to two times only). However, we guarantee an item's availability to you for 5 days from the date and time of purchase. For example, if you purchase an item at noon (EST) on April 1, we guarantee that you will have until noon (EST) on April 6 to download your item.

If you purchase a video, in addition to downloading, you will also be able to stream the video as many times as you like, for a period of 5 days. If the video was free, you can stream the video as many times as you like for as long as the seller keeps the item free on Tenlegs.

How long do I have to view a rental?

You have 5 days to view any video you've rented. So, if you rent an item at noon (EST) on April 1, you will have until noon (EST) on April 6 to view your item. Within the rental period, you can view your rental as many times as you want... but don't get addicted.

I bought or rented something, then the seller removed it. What should I do?

Don't worry. Each item you've paid for will be saved on our systems until you're able to download it or view it (within the guaranteed 5-day timeframe), even if the seller removes it from his/her store. However, after 5 days, we can no longer guarantee the item's availability for download. Therefore, if the seller removes the item, it will be removed from your purchases area after our 5-day guarantee period.

What if I don't like something I bought or rented?

If you feel strongly that the item was not worth the money you paid, please contact the seller. If you feel that the seller was deceptive in their description of the item or if the item is hateful or pornographic, please let us know by contacting us at complaints@tenlegs.com. We will research the issue and, depending on what we find out, you may be entitled to a refund and the seller may receive disciplinary action from Tenlegs.

What are Favorites?

Simple. Favorites are the things you like most out of everything you come across on Tenlegs. Just click the heart associated with anyone or anything you love and we'll save it to your favorites page.

Can I rate something on Tenlegs?

User feedback is part of what makes Tenlegs such a great community. But to keep things fair and accurate, only those who purchase an item can rate it. This is to make sure the ratings are not arbitrary and are based on actual quality.

Profiles & People
Why should I create a profile?

Profiles are very useful on Tenlegs. If you're a seller, your customers can get to know you a little better. If you're collaborating on projects, your fellow artists can understand what makes you tick and invite you to join in on the right projects.

Is my profile public?

In our Tenlegs beta, all profiles will be public by default. As we continue to add features and make the site better for our members, you will be able to set certain privacy settings for your profile. So be on the lookout and the choice will be yours soon.

How do I find people?

To find a specific artist on Tenlegs or narrow down your choices, simply type in a name, category or skill set in the search field.

How do people learn about new items in my store?

New items are given priority on the main pages. In addition, as we develop the site, people who follow your store will be notified whenever a new item is uploaded. And there will be Facebook and Twitter, if you link them to your account.

Uploading & My Store
What can I sell on Tenlegs?

If you can make it, you can sell it. Art in any digital medium (video, animation, music, sound, photos, images, writing, books) is fair game.

Is there a limit to the size or number of files I can upload for sale?

Currently, there is no limit. In fact, we will always ensure that you have the utmost flexibility to upload and sell your work. However, as our membership grows beyond the beta phase, our storage fees will grow with it and it is likely that we will implement some reasonable capacity limits for free uploads and some incremental pricing for uploads beyond a certain threshold. We are working through this and will deliver pricing terms that will be fair and reasonable for our members. In the meantime, we welcome your feedback and suggestions at feedback@tenlegs.com.

How do I create & customize my store?

You can create your store on the sell page. If you've already created a store, just click My Store when logged into our account.

How do I add or update items in my store?

Click the add button on your store or on the sell page, or click here. To update it later, go to your store, roll your cursor over the item you want to edit, and click "edit".

How do people learn about new items in my store?

New items are given priority on the main pages. In addition, people who follow your store will be notified whenever a new item is uploaded. And there's always Facebook and Twitter, if you link them to your account.

How do I make sure people can find my items easily?

Include good titles and descriptions for your work and make sure the media type is correct. It's also a good idea to tag your items with as many descriptors as possible.

Can I upload and tag items all in one shot?

Yes, you can. When you are adding items to your store, just choose 'Upload one or many items' and follow the instructions. In our Tenlegs beta, you will only be able to upload multiple items of the same media type. Soon, you'll be able to upload multi-type media files all in one go. For now, remember, the more you tell us about each item, the easier it is to find – and the more sales you can make. In other words, don't skimp on descriptions.

Can I sell files as an album or collection?

Yes, you can group items you've already uploaded. Just click on add items to your store and choose 'Group items already uploaded and sell as a bundle.' Follow the instructions from there.

How does Tenlegs promote my store?

Tenlegs will select some members to showcase in featured member and featured content spaces. We can also promote your work in our email newsletters.

There are things you can do, too. Post updates for your followers on Tenlegs, which appear in their feeds. And you and your friends can share your work via social networks with the click of a button.

Finally, Tenlegs will facilitate off-line promotion through participation in various festivals, events, publications and entertainment venues – showcasing our members helps promote the Tenlegs community, so there is no additional charge to to you.

Selling & Getting Paid
How much should I charge for my item? Can I change the price?

Pricing is up to you. And you can change the price as often as you like. If the demand is high, try a higher a price; if the demand is low, try a lower price. You're in control. We just ask that if you put an item up for sale at a price greater than $0.00, the minimum price point will need to be $.50 to help us recoup some of our payment processing expenses.

How much do I get paid for each item I sell?

You get 85% of your sale price on every item you sell. We keep 15%, which helps us serve you best, by taking care of all of the payment processing costs, ensuring site security standards, converting files to multiple formats for quick and easy download by your customers, and generally allowing you to focus on creating great work and content for your store.

How and when do you pay me?

We will pay you via your PayPal account (make sure you have one on record with us.) We pay in full on the first of every month for any balance you have with us that is $5 or more. If it is less than $5, we will wait until the amount we owe you reaches $5 before payment. This is also to recoup some of our payment processing costs.

How do I track my sales and what I am getting paid?

Log in and look at your sales reports on the sell page.

What if someone I sell to is not satisfied and wants their money back?

If a buyer is having problems with a file, please try to work towards a resolution with the buyer directly. If a buyer specifically couldn't download the file, they should come to Tenlegs. If they come to you in such a situation, please refer them to complaints@tenlegs.com.

Can I edit the items in my store?

You can edit information about your work whenever you want, but you can't edit the actual files in your store. If you want to update an item/file, create a new file and item description and delete the old one.

Is there any type of content I am restricted from selling?

Tenlegs' marketplace is limited to Digital and virtual Art. Stick to eBay and yard sales for everything else.

However, some items are inappropriate, even though they may otherwise meet Tenlegs' selling criteria. First, every seller is responsible for following the law. Beyond that, there are some types of items that we don't allow in our marketplace, as they are not in the spirit of Tenlegs – even if they are legal and otherwise meet Tenlegs selling criteria. This includes:

  • Pornography
  • Items that promote, support or glorify hatred toward or otherwise demean people based upon: race, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity, disability, or sexual orientation; including items or content that promote organizations with such views.
  • Items that promote or support illegal activity or instruct others to engage in illegal activity
  • Items that promote, support or glorify acts of violence or harm towards self or others
Beyond these standards, Tenlegs members are responsible for making their own important moral or ethical decisions regarding what they buy and sell on Tenlegs. We reserve the right to remove items that we determine are not within the spirit of Tenlegs. Such listings will be removed from the site, and the member's selling privileges may be suspended and/or terminated. Suspended or terminated members remain obligated to pay Tenlegs for anything owed to us per our Terms of Use.

Who owns the rights to my work once I upload it on Tenlegs?

You retain full rights to your content, even after you upload it to Tenlegs. Our Member Agreement, Terms of Use and the DCMA 2000 (Digital Copyright Millenium Act) restricts buyers from using purchased content form Tenlegs in a way that is unlawful or violates these terms.

Create & Start Projects on Tenlegs
What is Create?

In the Create area, you can start a project of your own, collaborate with other artists on new ideas or join the creative endeavors of others.

Like you, other Tenlegs members are interested in art and ideas. They wouldn't be here otherwise. So you've got a ready-made audience or a creative project team.

Why do I need this?

In our quest to help artists succeed, we designed this as your personal online workspace. You can keep all the media files you are working on in one place - no need to send large files around any longer or pay for those services. Yes it is free, no catch! It is secure – only you pick who joins your project. All conversations related to the your movie files, music files, etc. stay in one place because we know you like to chat! Finally, this is not just for small files, we are ready for the super large files (Gigs welcome)… we have allocated 5GB of free storage space to get you started.

What is a project and how do I start one?

Projects are little havens for your ideas, your secure storage vault for your films, songs, sketches, writing, manuscripts. Big or small, you can use them to grow your ideas and collaborate with other Tenlegs members towards a common goal. You can also use projects to promote your idea and build an audience or following for your upcoming release. (e.g., you have an album coming out but are still working on it, so you can post a few early tracks or outtakes for your followers and share them with your usual social networks easily).

To start a project, simply register or login at Tenlegs, click on Create in the top navigation and then "Create Now" in the box at the top right.

How do I follow a project?

Go to Tenlegs.com/Create, select any project by clicking on the project title and then click “follow” on the right of the project description page.

How do I invite collaborators or ask to be invited as a collaborator on a project?

You can ask any project owner to be invited as a collaborator on a project. Be sure to ask nicely! Why? last we heard it’s a good thing to do. Simply go to Tenlegs.com/Create, select any project by clicking on the project title and then click the "Join" button at the top right to send a message to the project owner.

If you're a project owner, login at Tenlegs and navigate to the Create link at the top. Under the Owner tab, you will see all of the projects you have started. Click on the title of any project and from there, you will be able to invite collaborators by clicking on the “Invite” button at the top right.

What is the difference between Project Owner, Collaborator, and Follower?

As Project Owner, you are in-charge. You are the person who has initiated the project on Tenlegs. You, the Owner have full rights to add, edit or delete all project files and comments as well as to invite project collaborators and assign access rights. As we said before, you are in-charge!

A Collaborator is a project participant, a core team member, a friend, who has been invited to work on the project with the Owner. You, the Collaborator, are key to the project, and can be invited with "Editor" rights or "Viewing" rights, at the Owner's discretion. A Collaborator with Edit rights can view, edit and delete project files and comments; A Collaborator with Viewing rights can only view project files and comments.

A Follower is simply a project fan, the most important role of all! Followers are Tenlegs members who are interested in the project work and choose to follow the project in order to see progress, status and receive updates from project Collaborators and Owners. The Owners and Collaborators are going through this arduous creative processes to impress and wow you. You are their support.

What's the difference between a Private and Public project?

In a Private project, anyone browsing Tenlegs will be able to see your project name, goal and description. Just enough to get people excited and interested, but your privacy of files and conversations that you have in the project space are completely private. These files and conversations are viewable only by any Collaborators the Owner chooses to invite.

In a Public project, anyone browsing Tenlegs will be able to see all information, comments and activity associated with the project. Any logged-on member of Tenlegs.com will also be able to see and download project files.

Are there any storage limits?

Every Project owner and collaborator gets 5GB of free personal storage, each. This should get you started. Take Create for a spin, tell us what you think. Every file you upload to a project will count against this personal storage limit and the storage meter lets you know if you are approaching the 5GB limit.

Why do I have to choose a Media type when creating a project?

We are requesting that you select one since this makes searching for and finding relevant projects easier for Tenlegs members. But this selection in no way limits the kinds of files that you can add/upload to the project space. For instance, you can select a Film project and upload any file type, including music files, word/text files, image files, etc
