Registering & Signing In

How do I get started and register on TenLegs?
The first thing you should do is register. Click the sign-Up link in the "Sign In to your TenLegs account" box, on the right of the home page. You will need a valid email address, a unique display name (which will become your identity for TenLegs), and a password.

You will want to register if you wish to make any purchases or sell any items. You do not need to register to browse TenLegs.

If you want to be a seller, please provide a valid paypal ID to us so that we can pay you. To provide a paypal address after you have registered, please go to "My Account" -> "My Payment Information".

Please familiarize yourself with our rules in the Terms of Use prior to registering.


Can I change my username?
Your email address serves as your username. If you wish to change the email address , please go to "My Account" -> "Edit My Profile".


What is my display name?
Display name is name that you will use as your public name on TenLegs. Other members and visitors will see this name as yours for your creations, your profile, etc. To provide a personalized experience your profile page will reflect this display name just as if your have your own website, your own shop. Try it out ! We thought it was cool.


I completed the registration, but can't sign in !
You can't sign in if your account is not active. When you first register with TenLegs, we send you a confirmation email as a precaution that someone else is not trying to register using your email address. You'll just need to click the confirmation link in this email to get started. If you do not see this email in your inbox, please check your junk / spam folder.

If you have confirmed your registration but still can't get in, please make sure you are typing your password correctly and that your CAPS LOCK is not on.

You may also want to try clearing your web browser's cache and cookies, or simply try accessing the site with a different browser program.


Where is my confirmation email? I don't think I got one.
As you know we live in a world of spam and so most email systems automatically forward emails from previously unidentified users to your Spam/Junk folder. Please check your Spam / Junk folder - it might have gone in there. And if its not there, please Contact Us and we’ll do everything to sort things out.


I can't remember my password, what should I do?
If you cannot remember your password, just click on the forgot password link on the sign-in page. We will reset your password and email it to the email address you used during registration.


I can't remember my username, can I still sign in?
Your username is simply the email your used to sign-in. Hopefully, you remember that. In case you don’t, please Contact Us.


If I forgot my username and/or password and/or email address, what can I do?
Contact Us and ask for help. You will need to prove that this account is yours. If you've lost all your information, you may have to register again.


Account Info

How do I change my password?
Click on "My Account" -> "Change Password" to change your password. You will need to be logged in.


How do I change the email address for my account?
Click on "My Account" -> "Edit My Profile". You can change your email address in the "My Contact Information" section on the right. You will need to be logged in.


How do I add/change/delete a mailing address?
Click on "My Account" -> "Edit My Profile". You can change your mailing address in the "My Contact Information" section on the right. You will need to be logged in.


How do I delete my account?
Are you sure? If you really want to, please click on "My Account" -> "Cancel Account". We will send you a confirmation email to ensure this is a real request and there is no account tampering. We take your account security very seriously. We will deactivate your account as soon as we receive confirmation that this is a genuine request.


Can I close my account to start a new one?
We can close the account for you and you can open a few one if you prefer to do so. To make things easier for you, we will bring back your previous profile information, so you are able to start over quickly and modify it to start afresh.


Can I have more than one account?
Only one account per email address is allowed.


Public Profile

What is the public profile?
The public profile allows others to learn about you - the artist behind the creations. You can use it to create your personal brand, your blog,... make it your own.


How do I create a public profile?
Click on "My Account" -> "Edit My Profile". Change "Profile Visibility" to "Public".


Can I choose to enable/disable my profile from being publicly viewable?
Yes. When you are in "My Account" -> "Edit My Profile", in the first box, My Image & Profile Setting, you can select Private under profile visibility. As a default, your profile is enabled for public viewing.


Why doesn't my Public Profile show up when I search for my Display Name in the search bar?
It may not be showing up because you have not uploaded any content yet. You must have uploaded content for your public profile to appear.


Uploading and Selling


How do I begin uploading?
This is where the real fun begins. Click on the Upload button in the upper right hand corner of your screen when you are logged in, select your category, and click Upload Your File. Fill in all asterisked (mandatory) fields, and any optional fields - and upload your file. If you are in the writing, music, or photo categories - you may upload either a single item or a collection of items. Goes without saying, but we thought we'd mention it, uploading any content is absolutely free, there are no charges to you.


How safe is it for me to upload my creations to TenLegs?
Security of your creations is very important for us and we have taken several steps to ensure TenLegs is a safe and secure environment. Only registered users can upload to TenLegs (anonymous users can browse the site). All sensitive operations (such as Login and profile changes) are handled on an encrypted (SSL) browser session only. We also use strong encryption mechanisms to store your password, to ensure that no one (not even TenLegs staff) has knowledge of or access to your password. Multiple copies of your creations are stored in secure data centers, with you controlling who has access to view your creations.


How do I make sure people can find my creations easily?
This is important and we do several things to help members and visitors find your creations. On the TenLegs home page we have general featured (mix of all categories, and then featured content by category e.g., Film & Video, available, in addition to heavy trafficked creations. We also feature you (Artists) on the home page as well.

Artists also have the ability to add tag words to their creation when you are uploading the creation (or you can modify later via the Edit function). Our search function is very strong tag-finder, so please don’t be shy to bundle up on tags. But if you have other ideas, we are always open to your suggestions.


How do I decide how much to charge for my item?
You can charge any amount you wish as long as it is $0.10 (ten cents) or more. Alternatively, you can also choose to make an item of yours free if you wish people to simply experience the creation and to get your name out there.


How do I get paid for the items I sell?
TenLegs makes it easy for you by taking care of all payment collection and processing. We collect all funds paid by the buyers. After each month closes, we pay the seller via paypal. This is why it is essential that you enter your paypal id - so that we can pay you. Sellers get paid 1st of each month if TenLegs payment due is more than $5. If revenues are less than $5, we carry your balance to the next month and make the payment to you once the amount due exceeds $5.


How do I provide my payment information?
Click on "My Account" choose My Payment Information in the drop down menu. Enter your address and PayPal ID here.


How much do I get paid for each item I sell?
At TenLegs, Creators get to keep most of the proceeds from the sale. TenLegs charges only 10% of the sale price (minor commission to keep TenLegs going). Seller keeps the full price net of TenLegs charges and paypal fees (approx. 5%+ $0.05).


How often do I get paid?
You will be paid monthly by the 1st of the each month for the sales till 25th of each month.


How do I track my sales and what I am getting paid?
Click on "My Account" and in the My Transactions box click on What I've Sold. To make things easy for your, we also offer an option for you to download your transaction file on to your own hard drive.


What if someone I sell to is not satisfied and wants their money back?
TenLegs offers you the full flexibility to do as you see fit. If you want to return the money you can do so via paypal or other means agreed between you and the buyer.


What are the rules around changing the price of my creation that I am selling?
You can change the price of your creation(s) at any time.


What are the rules around editing the information about, or content of, a creation I am selling?
You can edit the information about, or content of, any creation you are selling at any time.


Is there any type of content I am restricted from selling?
You can not sell anything pornographic or hate-based. We reserve the right to judge content on our site based on these criteria. If we deem that something posted is not appropriate for the site, we will first send you a warning. After three warnings we will need to remove your membership from the site.


Who owns the rights to my creations once I upload content on TenLegs?
You and you alone own the rights to your content. TenLegs simply facilitates that processing of storing, displaying, bringing people to your creation shop, and help in the sales transaction. We value your rights, just click on copyright policies for more information.


Purchasing from TenLegs

Do I need to be registered to purchase an item?
Yes.


How do I find an item?
You can use the keyword search bar near the top of the page to search for items.


How do I purchase an item?
You may select the Buy Now option at any point in the purchase path. Then follow the directions to either pay via paypal or credit card.


Can I store my credit card information at your site?
No - we do not store credit card information. Your two options for purchasing an item is to either use Paypal or enter your credit card number each time you make a purchase. We are doing this for your security so you don't have to share any personal financial data.


What if something I purchase does not download properly?
First - make sure that your computer can support the format that file is in. IF you are sure it does and the file still does not work properly, contact customer support and let us know.

How long do I have to download after I have purchased an item?
We at TenLegs want to make sure you have flexibility to download at your convenience so we have after purchase you will have 15 days to download the content.


If the seller alters an item after selling it to me, do I still receive the item as it was originally purchased?
Yes - if an item has been altered, you will receive that item as it was (price, content, description) at the time of purchase, even if you download it later.


What if I don't like something I purchased?
We are very sorry you didn't like what you purchased. We believe this is something best sorted out between the Creator and the Buyer. Please contact the creator by placing a message on their 'Pillarboard' in case their email is not available in their profile.


What if I purchase something that is hateful or pornographic?
Please flag the item and contact us.


What is Wishlist?
If you click on Wishlist, the item you are referring to will be added to a list you can refer to later - to make a purchase later in case you decide to do so.


What is Favorites?
If you click on Add to Favorites, the item you are referring to will be added to your Favorites - if you have a public profile, others will be able to view your favorite purchases.


What is Tell a Friend?
If you click on Tell a Friend, you can send an email to a friend to let them know about a particular item.


How does the feedback/rating system work?
After you have purchased an item, you can leave feedback by clicking on Rate. You will be able to leave a rating and feedback which will show up under Product Details for that item.

Where can I find TenLegs rules?
TenLegs' rules are outlined in the Terms of Use (which is a legal agreement for using the site).


How do I report a violation of TenLegs' policies?
You should contact us to let us know. We take all such matters seriously and act on them promptly.


What/join if I see something that shouldn't be sold on TenLegs?
Please contact us to let us know and let us. We take all such matters seriously and act on them promptly.


What are the consequences for breaking TenLegs' rules?
First and foremost, we can usually work things out with a member personally and privately. If this is not successful, a member's site privileges may be suspended or an account may be terminated.
